Is Far Far West Crossplay? Cross-Platform Status

No crossplay, and not because of a policy decision: there is only one platform to play on. Here is how the store listing proves it in under two minutes.

Short answer

Far Far West is not crossplay. As of October 28, 2026 it ships on Windows through Steam only, so there is no second platform to connect to. Every session is Steam-to-Steam. The store page lists Single-player and Online Co-op as features and carries no cross-platform multiplayer tag.

This question gets asked because the game is a four-player co-op shooter and every co-op shooter gets asked it. The answer here is unusually clean, and it is worth understanding why, because it tells you what would have to change before the answer changes.

What the store listing actually says

Steam's feature block for Far Far West lists four items: Single-player, Online Co-op, Steam Cloud, and Family Sharing. That block is machine-readable and platform-aware — when a game supports cross-platform multiplayer, Steam prints a dedicated tag for it, and this listing does not have one.

The platform block is even more direct. Only Windows is listed. No macOS, no Linux, no SteamOS entry.

Read together, those two facts settle it. Crossplay is a property of a game with more than one platform. Far Far West currently has one.

Why "no crossplay" is a platform fact, not a policy

There is a meaningful difference between a game that could connect platforms and chooses not to, and a game that has nothing to connect.

Far Far West is the second case. Evil Raptor is an eight-person studio running an Early Access period the store page describes as roughly twelve months. A console port would mean a second build, a certification pass, and a separate patch cadence — none of which exists yet. Until a non-Steam version ships, the crossplay question has no content.

That also means the answer is not stable forever. If a console version is ever announced, crossplay becomes a live question with a real answer, and it will be stated on the store page of that version. Until then, any article describing "crossplay testing" between PC and consoles is describing something with no primary source.

How to verify it yourself in two minutes

Do not take a wiki's word for it, including this one. Three checks, in order of reliability.

One: the Steam feature block. Open the store page and read the four feature tags. If cross-platform multiplayer were supported, it would appear there and on the store pages of every other platform version.

Two: search the console storefronts. Search PlayStation Store, the Microsoft Store, and the Nintendo eShop for the title. No listing means no version, which means no crossplay. This takes thirty seconds and settles arguments permanently.

Three: the official channels. The developer's Discord FAQ and the Steam news hub are where a platform announcement would land first. Absence there is more informative than presence on an aggregator site.

What does work, and it is not a workaround

Sessions are hosted and joined entirely through Steam. Two routes exist and both are documented in /guide/coop-guide: a Steam friend invite, or a session code shared out of the pause menu's current-session panel.

Neither is a substitute for crossplay. They are simply how the game connects people, and they work well — the code route in particular survives a slow launch or a region mismatch that friend invites sometimes fumble.

Two related things people confuse with crossplay:

Steam Deck is not crossplay. A Deck runs the same Steam client and the same account system, so a Deck player and a desktop player are on one platform as far as the game is concerned. Whether the build runs well there is a separate question — the store listing names Windows only, so check the compatibility badge on the listing rather than assuming.

Family Sharing is not game sharing for co-op. Steam's Family Sharing lets another account play from your library, but it does not let two people run the same copy at the same time, and every player in a session still needs the game running under their own account. A shared library does not put a second player in your lobby.

If a console version ever ships

Three things would have to be true before crossplay could exist, and each one is visible from outside.

A console build would have to be announced on an official channel. That build would have to reach parity with the PC version, which for an Early Access title means waiting for the feature set to settle. And the studio would have to commit to cross-platform sessions specifically — a port without crossplay is common, and it is the more likely first step for a small team.

The practical instruction is therefore simple: follow the Steam news hub and the official Discord, and treat every "crossplay confirmed" headline as unverified until it appears there.

The short version

One platform, one storefront, one session system. Crossplay is not missing — it is undefined. Check the Steam feature tags and the console storefronts, and you will never need to ask again.

Is Far Far West crossplay between PC and PS5?

No. There is no PS5 version, announced or released, so there is nothing to connect. The same applies to Xbox and Switch.

Can Epic Games Store players join Steam sessions?

No other storefront version has been announced. The game is sold on Steam, and sessions run through Steam, so a non-Steam copy does not exist to join with.

Does Far Far West have split-screen or local co-op?

No. The store page lists online co-op only — no local co-op, no split-screen, and no Remote Play Together tag. Four players means four machines.

Will crossplay be added at full release?

Unknown, and the developers have not said. The Early Access plan covers content and systems, not platform commitments. Watch the Steam news hub for the announcement rather than a roadmap summary on a third-party site.
