Far Far West Skins: Full List, Prices, and Event Cosmetics
Gold prices, challenge unlocks, and the seasonal rotation — including the honest answer about the Pumpkin Jack skin instead of a dead promo code.

Pumpkin Jack: the short answer
Old promo codes for the Pumpkin Jack skin are dead. The skin is currently obtainable as a Halloween event reward for Haunted Candles, and after the event ends on November 12, 2026 the official notes say unowned event cosmetics become purchasable with Gold at four times their category price.
Two things confuse people about Far Far West cosmetics, and both are the game's fault rather than theirs.
The first is that the shop is a building in town with a hat on it, not a menu tab, so players spend their first hour looking for a UI element that does not exist. The second is the Pumpkin Jack skin, which has been attached to a playtest, a promo code, and a Halloween event at different points in its life, and which is also the name of an unrelated game that Far Far West is currently bundled with.
This page sorts both out.
Where skins live
Everything cosmetic happens at the Rootin' Tootin' Shack (some sources call it the Shop) in the town hub, marked with a white cowboy hat icon. There you buy gold skins, claim challenge skins you have already earned, and equip anything you own — swapping is free once unlocked.
| Rarity | How many sources list it | Typical acquisition |
|---|---|---|
| Normal | 6 | Gold, or default |
| Fine | 4 | Gold or light challenges |
| Prime | 5 | Gold or questlines |
| Mythic | 4 | Gold, or long grinds |
| Legendary | 2 | Seasonal or extreme grinds |
The count of skins moves with events — sources list 20, 21, or 22 depending on when they checked. Treat any "complete list" as a snapshot, including this one.
The gold and challenge skins
Prices below are reported consistently across four or more independent skin guides for the same build family. Re-check at the counter before saving for something.
| Skin | Rarity | Unlock |
|---|---|---|
| John Doe / Jane Doe | Normal | Default |
| Anvil | Normal | 300 Gold |
| Woody | Normal | 300 Gold |
| Trackman | Normal | 500 Gold |
| Viejo | Normal | 500 Gold |
| Blink | Normal | Buy any 4 shop skins |
| Willy Billy | Fine | Finish Willy Billy's questline |
| Bull | Fine | 750 Gold |
| Marauder | Fine | Kill 200 Marauders |
| Hooty | Fine | 1,000 Gold |
| Ol' Rufus | Prime | 2,000 Gold |
| Dr. Spark-Twist | Prime | Finish his Desert questline |
| Gravekeeper | Prime | Find 30 graves across all maps |
| Wandering Trader | Prime | Trade 30 times with the Wandering Trader |
| Otto | Prime | Finish Otto's Canyon questline |
| Cariboo | Mythic | Far Far North secret mission |
| Jeralt | Mythic | 3,000 Gold |
| Fortuna Bluff | Mythic | Cast 1,000 spells |
| Sheriff | Mythic | Complete 30 missions |
| Definitely Not Cryptic | Legendary | Kill 25,000 Cryptics |
| Pumpkin Jack | Legendary | Halloween event, or Gold after it |
Three of these are worth planning around.
Marauder is the fastest grind on the list if you farm it deliberately — the Desert map's first Dr. Spark quest spawns Marauders at the objectives, so you can repeat a short mission instead of hunting randomly.
Gravekeeper is the only skin that makes you play every region. Thirty graves across eight maps is roughly four per map, and the grave routes are documented per region — Redwood's ten are covered on /zones/redwood-map.
Definitely Not Cryptic is not a challenge, it is a lifestyle. 25,000 kills will happen eventually if you keep playing; do not build a plan around it.
Note also that Otto's questline does not unlock a region, despite being listed beside the region unlocks in several guides. It is a license-exam chain — written test, riding test, parkour course — and its reward is the Flash McEquine mount skin, reported by one source.
The Halloween event cosmetics
The Fear Fear West event runs October 22 – November 12, 2026 and uses a separate currency: Haunted Candles.
How you earn candles: collect three temporary resources and brew them in the cauldron behind the lobby train.
| Ingredient | Source | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| Haunted Feathers | Crow statues — shoot the crow it releases | The crow leaves after a short window |
| Haunted Pumpkins | The event boss, the Pumpkin Lord | Reportedly around 3,000 HP |
| Haunted Skulls | The Skullyard, a haunted cemetery | Destroy the flying skulls |
Contract icons on the mission board show which ingredients a map offers, and each contract carries up to two of the three. Reported cauldron requirements are 9 pumpkins, 9 feathers, 3 skulls for a batch of candles.
What candles buy:
| Cosmetic | Type |
|---|---|
| Sawbones | Character skin |
| Scarecrow | Character skin |
| Pumpkin Jack | Character skin |
| Ghost | Mount skin |
| Spooked, Ritual | Emotes |
| Dies First, Scarecrow, Bounty Haunter, Legend of the Fear Fear West | Titles |
After November 12, unlocked cosmetics stay yours. Anything you missed becomes purchasable with Gold at four times the normal category price, and leftover candles convert to 2 Souls each. The three new female character skins added in the same patch are not event-bound and remain available.
The Pumpkin Jack situation, explained
This is the single most-searched skin in the game and the answer has three layers.
Layer one: the old route is closed. Pumpkin Jack was originally tied to the playtest period and a promo code redeemed at the ghost cowboy's shed above the town firing range. Those codes no longer work. Any guide still printing one is out of date.
Layer two: it came back. The Halloween event lists Pumpkin Jack as one of its three character skins, purchasable with Haunted Candles. That is the current route, and it is time-limited.
Layer three: after the event. Per the official notes, missed event cosmetics become Gold purchases at four times the category price. That is not cheap, but it is not gone either — which is a better outcome than the "unavailable forever" status most guides still describe.
One clarification that saves people money: the "Far Far West x Pumpkin Jack" bundle on Steam is a game bundle pairing this title with the unrelated platformer Pumpkin Jack. It does not contain a skin. Buying it will not unlock the cosmetic.
Do skins do anything?
No. They are cosmetic only, they persist through prestige, and they do not affect hitboxes or stats. The one adjacent system that is not cosmetic is the mount, which is a traversal tool — and mount skins are separate purchases, including the event's Ghost mount.
If you are deciding what to spend gold on, upgrades beat cosmetics every time early on. /weapons/weapon-upgrades-guide explains why, /guide/bounty-hunting-guide covers where the gold comes from, and /guide/xp-tickets covers the other thing your currency competes with. For the full patch history behind the current shop, see /guide/patch-notes.
The short version
Buy gold skins at the Rootin' Tootin' Shack. Grind Marauder and Gravekeeper deliberately, ignore the 25,000-kill skin. Pumpkin Jack is a Halloween reward now, then a four-times-price gold purchase — and the bundle named after it contains a different game.
How do I get the Scarecrow skin?
It is a Halloween event cosmetic bought with Haunted Candles during the October 22 – November 12, 2026 window. After the event it reportedly becomes a Gold purchase at four times the category price.
Are event skins gone forever if I miss them?
No. The official notes say unowned event cosmetics become purchasable with Gold after the event. They are more expensive, not unobtainable.
Do skins carry over after prestige?
Yes. Prestiging resets the visible level of a track and nothing else — skins, Jokers, and upgrades are kept. This is consistent across every source that covers prestige.
Is there a skin for the horse?
Yes. Mount skins exist, including the event's Ghost mount and the reported Flash McEquine from Otto's questline. Mounts are traversal tools, so their cosmetics are separate from character skins.
