Far Far West Jungle Map: Unlock Route and Bounty Fit

A rainforest map with real verticality, an ice-path shortcut system, and the quest chain that gates the volcano. Here is how to get in and what to run once you are there.

Route confirmed, details reported

Trackman's three-part chain is consistent across walkthroughs and data-mined quest records. Two points are contested: whether all three quests must land in one successful extraction, and the exact number of mirrors in the first quest. Do the safe thing — finish one quest per run and extract.

The Jungle is the last of the base regions, and it is the map that stops being about aim. Trees break sightlines, water slows movement, and the ancient stone structures stack three or four levels of vertical space on top of each other.

It is also the antechamber to Hellfire, which means most players arrive here with a destination in mind rather than an interest in the biome. That is a mistake. The Jungle is the best map in the game for learning movement, and the skills transfer directly to the volcano.

Unlocking the Jungle

The chain lives on Far Far North, not in the Jungle itself.

Prerequisite: Far Far North must be open, which requires recovering black boxes from train wrecks on Far West, Canyon, and Area 41.

Who to talk to: Trackman, on the porch of the Post Office on Far Far North's western edge, marked with a golden envelope icon. He offers the Papa Marquette Files chain.

QuestReported objectiveWhat actually trips people up
The North MirrorsRealign a chain of mirrors to aim a beam and reveal old mailbagsLong travel between mirrors; the last one is high up
The Frozen SnowmenShatter ice around three trapped snowmen using mounted speedYou must be moving fast; shooting the ice does nothing
The Incomplete LogbookReassemble torn pages, then hunt six images across the mapThe longest quest by far, with one page under a bridge

Three practical notes.

Finish the quest and extract. Quest credit registers on a successful mission completion, not the moment you touch the objective. Bailing out after the last step is the classic way to lose an hour.

Do one quest per run unless you are confident. One source says all three must be completed within a single successful extraction; others describe a per-mission chain. The per-mission reading is safer and matches how the other region unlocks behave.

Bring a fast mount and a movement spell. The snowman quest is a speed check, and the mirror quest is a distance check. Neither rewards combat efficiency.

If your map list still shows no Jungle after all three, re-open the quest log and confirm each entry is marked complete rather than "ready to turn in."

What the terrain does to a build

The Jungle is the map that punishes flat-ground thinking.

Terrain featureEffectBuild implication
Dense canopyBreaks sightlines at rangeSnipers need elevation or a closer weapon
WaterwaysSlows movement, channels routingMobility spells are worth a slot here
Stone templesMulti-level, climbableVertical mobility beats raw damage
Narrow ruinsForces close fightsShotguns and melee overperform

Two Frostburn additions changed this map more than any other. Bridge creates an ice path in midair that shields allies crossing it, which turns cliff faces into roads and lets a squad skip entire traversal sections. And the Lasso's charged attack grants flight, which means a melee player can now reach the ledges that used to be sniper-only territory. Both are covered in /guide/builds and /guide/shield-guide.

The practical read: on the Jungle, mobility is a damage stat. A build that cannot reposition spends half the mission walking to a fight it will arrive late to.

Enemies and what to expect

The map's population is the standard Cryptic roster — resurrected skeleton enemies, the same family that appears everywhere else — with the region's own mix leaning on ranged units that use the elevation against you. Marauder camps also appear, which matters for one specific reason: they are the fastest way to finish "kill 200 Marauders" for the Marauder skin, and the Jungle's camp layouts are more clustered than the Desert's.

What you will not find is a unique enemy faction. The rumored sci-fi invaders that appeared in a July developer preview did not ship with Frostburn. If a guide describes them as live content, it is recycling the preview.

The torch secret

Frostburn added a secret to the existing Jungle, and it is one of the better-designed puzzles in the game: three colored braziers, three temple buildings, and a timer on every flame.

FlameBrazier locationDestination
PurpleSoutheast corner of the mapLeft temple building
BlueNorth of the mapMiddle temple building
GreenCentral-west, atop a stone pillarRight temple building

Pick up a flame and it starts burning down. Deliver it to the matching building before it dies, or return to the brazier and relight. Completing all three reportedly awards the Juggling Emote to everyone in the lobby.

The efficient version is a three-player split: one color each, one trip each. Solo works, but the green flame's pillar climb eats most of its timer, so clear a path down before you pick it up.

Which bounties fit the Jungle

Good fit: traversal contracts, anything with objectives spread across elevation, and boss contracts where you want room to kite. The map's verticality gives you escape routes that the Desert simply does not have.

Bad fit: defense-style objectives in narrow ruins, where a wave can block the only exit, and long-range contracts that assume open sightlines.

If you are choosing a map to farm rather than to clear, the Jungle is a mid-tier pick: the terrain slows completion, but the density of elite encounters is high. /bounties/bounty-types breaks down which contract types pay for that trade.

After the Jungle

Two things open from here. Hellfire requires Arizona Jones's three-temple chain, which you start in the Jungle — see /zones/hellfire-unlock. And Redwood is now live as a separate late addition with its own unlock chain, covered on /zones/redwood-map.

Squad composition for a vertical map is different from a flat one; /guide/coop-guide covers the split, and /spells/best-spell-combos covers which setups still work when you are fighting uphill.

The short version

Talk to Trackman on Far Far North, finish three quests one per run, and extract after each. Once inside, treat mobility as damage: Bridge and Lasso flight are the map's real unlocks. Then go find three flames before you go find a volcano.

Do I need to finish the Jungle to reach Hellfire?

You need to be in the Jungle to start the Hellfire chain, since Arizona Jones stands there, but you do not need to complete the torch secret or clear every bounty. The gate is the three temples, not the region.

Why is the Jungle still locked after I finished the quests?

Usually because the final step was not turned in during a successful extraction. Re-check the quest log for an incomplete entry, then redo that one quest and finish the mission properly.

What is the Jungle secret reward?

Reported as the Juggling Emote, awarded to the whole lobby. It is cosmetic only — no Joker, no currency, no weapon.

Is the Jungle good for solo players?

It is manageable but slower. The terrain favors mobility tools you may not have yet, and the torch puzzle is designed around a three-way split. Solo players should expect to make three separate flame runs.
